What is 础础鲍鈥檚 B.A. in International Relations: Global Security Studies?
The B.A. in International Relations: Global Security Studies program at Anglo-American University is taught by a range of experts from all over the world that bring years of professional experience to the classroom. This program enables students to fully experience the cultural dynamism of Central Europe. Students develop a solid foundation in international relations and political theory, history, philosophy, nationalism, or security.
Global Security Studies is a traditional subdiscipline of international politics examining war, conflict, terrorism, violence, and the role of states, international organizations, and individuals in addressing global security challenges. Students also explore critical security studies, including the use and misuse of power, justice, and citizens鈥� rights.
Graduates develop the skills to critically examine and address the international/intercultural challenges of our time, such as global inequalities, economic dependency, conflict and security, or globalization including the evolving roles of organizations such as the United Nations, NATO, and the European Union.

Beyond the classroom, being part of Student Council gave me the opportunity to build lasting friendships and become more involved in the university community. It was the combination of academic challenge and an open, diverse environment that made my experience so memorable.鈥�
Beyond the classroom, students can join student clubs like Diplomacy or Model UN, practice debate skills at a faculty-student debate or discuss current political issues with professors and local experts at an event like 鈥楶rofessors in the Pub鈥�.
础础鲍鈥檚 Career Center also connects students with numerous professional internships in the Czech Republic and abroad every year.
Program Structure
International Relations: Global Security Studies is a 3-year study program. To graduate, students must accumulate 90 US credits (180 ECTS credits) by completing 30 courses.

Having passed all the required and elective courses, students complete their studies by taking the graduation examination which includes a state exam covering the contents of the major module, a state exam covering the concentration module, and a thesis defense.

What Skills Will You Gain From the B.A. in International Relations: Global Security Studies?
Graduates of the B.A. in International Relations: Global Security Studies will be able to:
- Apply analytical and critical thinking skills to identify complex global security issues between state actors and situate them in historical, geographical, and ideological context.
- They will be able to evaluate key threats, assess their regional and global impact and formulate possible policy responses.
- Understand and apply relevant security concepts at basic level using appropriate terminology and integrate these with theoretical concepts from other areas, especially IR studies as well as political science and political economy.
- Assess the role of non-state actors in domestic, regional, and international arena, explain impact on currents issues and local as well as national policies.
- Demonstrate awareness of cultural, ethnic, and religious factors in global security issues and the impact of conflicts on human rights and specific minority groups. Understand the ethical dimension of policy formulation.

The Bachelor鈥檚 degree awarded is concurrently recognized as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in the United States, per 础础鲍鈥檚 accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, and as a Bakal谩艡 (Bc.) in the Czech Republic, per 础础鲍鈥檚 accreditation by the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education (NABHE). Graduates may select whether to use the U.S. post-nominal or the Czech pre-nominal title.
