New Student Mentor Program

Our way of saying, “Welcome to Íæż½ã½ã, welcome to Prague, and welcome home!â€

About the Program

We know it can be challenging transitioning into a new environment and we want you to enjoy all the excitement that student life in Prague has to offer. Who better to show you around than current students?

The Íæż½ã½ã New Student Mentor Program matches up new students with a group of experienced student volunteers who assist new students in adapting to university life. Whether you are a first-year student, transfer student or exchange student our Íæż½ã½ã Mentors are here to help!

Mentors are here to:

  • Guide you through New Student Orientation
  • Answer questions and provide recommendations related to life in Prague
  • Accompany you to visa or other official appointments where you might need help
  • Give you insight into specific degree programs and student resources at Íæż½ã½ã
  • Help you meet other students through organized events and activities

Meet the Mentors

Elise Christensen

New project (9)

Hi! I’m Elise and I am a second-year student at Íæż½ã½ã studying business administration with a focus in economics. I am eager to help students adjust to life in Prague whether it’s for one semester or three years! This semester I will also be working in Íæż½ã½ã Academic Tutoring Center, assisting other students with business and math related subjects.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy traveling, getting outdoors, cooking, and am always working on a project just for fun. I am excited to meet the incoming students this year so be sure to say hi if you see me on campus!

Emma Coté

Hi, I am Emma (or Em). I am a Visual Arts student going into my final year at Íæż½ã½ã and am excited to help new students find their footing in both academic and everyday life in Prague. I enjoy museums, nature, literature, and art, and have found an abundance of it in the Czech Republic. Coming from rural West Virginia, I understand the drastic shift it can be to move to a big city and a new country, and hope my experiences can help others in the transition process.

Laura Mária DemÄáková

New project

Hello. My name is Laura Maria Demcakova, I come from Slovakia and I am currently in my second year on Íæż½ã½ã campus. I am pursuing a major in International Relations and a minor in Journalism. I remember the confusion of starting the university which is why I decided to come forward as a Mentor and help in ways I can.

Margaret Leroux

New project (1)

Hi! My name is Maggi Leroux and I am a third year student at Íæż½ã½ã’s School of International Relations, with my concentration being in Human Rights. I am from Charlottesville Virginia, USA, which is about an hour south of Washington DC. In my free time I love to read, sew, go to the movie theatre, and watch airplanes at PRG.

Amelie Villagómez

New project (2)

Hi, my name is Amelie. I am from Querétaro, México, and am currently studying Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Communications. You will probably see me in Íæż½ã½ã’s Cafe Des Taxis, either studying or working behind the counter so don’t hesitate to say hi! Outside of school, I enjoy spending time in parks, watching movies and traveling.
